Weekly Virtual Coloring Group Parties

It’s been a minute since I’ve made a blog post. I kind of stopped making them, because, well, honestly, I’m not really a writer. I’m more of a talker, and drawer. Which is one of the reasons I love hosting weekly virtual coloring parties.

This has been one of the biggest shifts in my business this year. And wow what a year it was! And wasn’t. So many exciting plans and parties just… never happened. This makes me really sad, but also very grateful for this period of reflection, and how many new possibilities emerged.

For example, virtual coloring parties! With the last few coloring books I released, I wanted to host some sort of fun coloring, launch party, but it just never worked out. Finding a space, ordering supplies, plus competing with other holiday and life events just made planning a bit difficult. Due to Covid-19 though, I had to think outside the box. With a bit of help and convincing, I began hosting weekly virtual coloring parties for the limited-edition Halloween book I released earlier this year. And while we were already in the holiday spirit, I moved on to winter themed parties with pages from A Cozy Christmas Coloring Adventure.

I personally love Christmas. To me, this is the holiday of all holidays. Not everyone celebrates Christmas though, so the pages I’ve picked for the parties this month are more festive, cozy and winter-y than strictly Christmas pages. So, if you’re reading this and want to join, and don’t celebrate Christmas, you are still more than welcome!

These parties are so fun for a few reasons. Almost everyone who comes is a creative of some sort. Many are singers, some are writers, actors, and knitters. What I love about coloring is that it allows you to be creative in a way that feels structured, but also offers plenty of freedom. We often forget how to relax, have fun and create from a place of child-like wonder. Especially if we create in a professional capacity. These parties are a way to just play, explore and connect with others. It’s not about being a perfect colorist. Is that even a thing? The goal here is simply to have fun, and maybe learn something.

I offer instructions as we go along, and give recommendations. But you are absolutely encouraged to improvise and make each coloring page your own. Each week we play with different tools and mediums and honestly it’s so fun for me too.

If you would love to get into the holiday spirit this year and color some festive pages with new friends, I invite you to join me every Thursday evening at 6pm PST / 9pm EST via Zoom. You can find all the information you need for each party here. You can find the book here. If you want to join our little community where we share our work and connect, you can find us on Facebook here. And if you want weekly updates and reminders, please sign up for my newsletter

This week we will be coloring one of my favorite pages, the cozy holiday cactus. I hope to see you Thursday! 🌵
