The Emperor 

If The Empress is Mother Earth, The Emperor is Father Sky. Representing the divine masculine, our connection to the heavens, giving generously (hello, rain), a blanket of protection (starry skies). 

I chose to depict this as a woman, because we all embody both masculine and feminine qualities. They are two polarities on a spectrum, each equally valuable and important to our well being. 

I create a lot of fun, magical, whimsical art as a way to escape the realities of the world momentarily. This is not because I’m ignoring things. I actively try to stay well informed. However, I know that nothing can change when we approach things from a place of fear. If we can step back, find momentary peace in our hearts, we can always uncover the best solutions. 

As I’m writing this, my current city, my hometown 500 miles away, my state, really the entire west coast of the U.S. is on fire. When we think about the planet burning right now, it can feel overwhelming. However, pausing for a moment, the solution is so obvious. Humans need to chill out. Like, full stop, stop humaning. When the world shut down earlier this year, cars stopped moving, factories closed, pollution started to clear up, animals got free reign over the cities and skies. It’s interesting that the leading causes of global warming are oil, fast fashion, and animal consumption.

I hope this piece will remind you that we can always pause whenever things get too scary. The answers will flow when we tap into the higher versions of ourselves and draw inspiration from our divine masculine and our divine feminine energies.
