I created these Chakra Yoga and Meditation collections, based on the practice of yoga. Each drawing in the 12" x 9" series represents a different yoga pose in the sequence of a vinyasa flow. A woman takes us through her yoga journey with her chakras aligned, surrounded by a pool of silver light. Simply put, the chakra system is said to represent energy pockets within the body. Ancient Sanskrit texts depict these systems with varying numbers, colors and bodily associations. However there is no mention of meaning attached to individual chakras. This is a modern construct. Similarly, modern practitioners have more or less agreed there are seven primary chakras, which are depicted in this series. (1) The Root Chakra, associated with abundance, grounding, and passion. (2) The Sacral Chakra, associated with emotion, creative expression, and desire. (3) The Solar Plexus Chakra, associated with personal power, and digestion. (4) The Heart Chakra, associated with balance, and love. (5) The Throat Chakra, associated with truth and communication. (6) The Third Eye Chakra, associated with inner sight. (7) The Crown Chakra, associated with pure consciousness, or what connects you the the Universe.
