Fifty Fun Patterns

When I started creating coloring books back in 2018, I had no idea how much I would love the process. I love sitting down, mapping out a story or concept, and then spending hours in my own little world designing each page.

The idea for Fifty Fun Patterns actually came from a page I designed for my coloring party group. Every month I design a new page for the group, and we spend an hour a week coloring a different part of it. One month I created a mandala-like stain glass themed page. This sparked some ideas I had for creating more of these types of pages.

They didn’t have to just be “patterns” or shapes. They could be anything! And then I really started to have fun with it. I created the first book in about two weeks - not counting the editing process. In my experience, when a creative idea just flows out of you, you know you’ve got something juicy. So I designed two more!

These pages range from shapes and patterns yes, to themes with insects, shells, glassware, flowers, plants, even cityscapes, and so much more. I genuinely enjoy coloring them, because the possibilities are endless. Since these are repeating patterns, you can even color the same image a million different ways!

Sometimes I challenge myself to stick to one color range (purple, blue, green, yellow). Sometimes I make each section completely different. There’s no wrong way to color, after-all.

If I had to pick my favorite of the three, I honestly couldn’t. I love them all, and had so much fun designing each one. Will there be another book in this series? I don’t know yet… maybe.

In the meantime, there are over one-hundred and fifty unique patterned pages to color!
